In a golden autumn, Nankai University ushered in its centennial birthday. This is the day for all Nankai students to celebrate the “new year” and for every Nankai students to go home. Hundreds of Nankai tourism alumni returned to their alma mater to celebrate the centenary of Nankai.
On the morning of the day, the "100th anniversary meeting of Nankai University" was held in Balitai campus. The joy of the reunion of teachers and students dispelled the cold air in the morning, and the surprise call of the classmates warmed everyone's heart. After graduation, they went to all parts of the motherland to make contributions. Now they are reunited to recall their youth at school. When they saw their former teachers and classmates, it was hard for the alumni to suppress their excitement and smile. The tourism alumni attending the conference at all levels also, as representatives, offered their most sincere wishes to their alma mater and college via videos. At the end of the conference, when the music of the Nankai University Anthem sounded, the alumni again sang a familiar melody with tears in their eyes. When taking a group photo, the neat and loud word "Nankai" stirred up the memory of each graduate for their alma mater.
After the conference, the alumni went back to school together, walking along the familiar middle road and past the sculpture in memory. While walking, old Communist Party secretary Wang Jintang told the alumni the story of every building, plant and tree of Nankai, which reminded everyone’s infinite memories. In the afternoon, alumni returned to the college to “visit relatives”. Teachers and students gathered together in the college to enjoy the old friendship.
In order to welcome the centennial anniversary and all returning alumni, the college carefully prepared a special exhibition on the history of the college and department. The photos, textbooks and exhibits in the exhibition hall silently display the stories and struggle history of Tourism Department teachers and students for decades. The cracks on the plaque and the yellow paper recorded the struggle and sweat of generations of Nankai Tourism Department teachers and students, and also engraved the harvest and beauty. Alumni signed, took group photos and left messages inside and outside the exhibition hall to express their deep love for their alma mater and the college.
After the school celebration, the enthusiasm remained unabated. On October 19, students of grade 1985, grade 1988, grade 2002, grade 2003, grade 2007 (Master), grade 2010, grade 2011 and other grades returned to their alma mater in the unit of class with grateful. Accompanied by the teachers of the college, the alumni visited the exhibition together, read familiar textbooks, appreciated the solid steps of Nankai Tourism, and looked back on the years when Nankai Tourism Department teachers and students were struggling. Even if they left their alma mater, they still couldn't let go of their concerns about their alma mater. Professor Xu Hong, Communist Party secretary of the college, welcomed all alumni to come home at the centennial and invited them to make joint efforts to build a better Nankai and college.
The alumni from the class of 1989 donated “Nankai Tourism Assistantship for teachers” to the college on the occasion of 30 years of graduation. It was specially used to care for and help retired old teachers of the Department of tourism and express their gratitude to the teachers. “The century old Nankai still shines, thirty years after graduation, we are still young “. The tourism alumni have written the vitality of tourists with the most touching strokes and also engraved the profound alumni friendship.
Nankai tourism students relay from generation to generation to take root in all parts of the motherland, but their hearts have never left the place where their dreams take off. No matter how time flies, the friendship between teachers and students will never fade. For all Nankai tourism teachers and students, let us look forward to meeting again in the near future. For a new generation of Nankai tourism students, let us look forward to a better life and work together for a new century in Nankai University!
