Nankai University has always focused on the integration of teaching and practice since the establishment of the tourism discipline in 1981, and invited executives from internationally renowned enterprises to participate in the construction of the tourism discipline, the writing of teaching materials and the translation of foreign language books at the early stage of the establishment of the department. Since the establishment of the College, it has never stopped cooperating with industry government agencies and enterprises, mainly in the form of employing industry mentors and practice instructors, inviting executives from enterprises to attend classes and give lectures at the College and other forms of participation in the teaching and practice.
In 2021, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Nankai's tourism discipline, CTSM has established an Industry Advisory Committee for the tourism discipline on the basis of industry mentors and practice mentors. The introduction is as follows.
I. Background of establishment
Standing on a new historical starting point, in order to better inherit the fine tradition of "Know China, Serve China" of Nankai tourism education, give full play to the strategic advisory role of industry experts, and form a closer "integration of industry, academia and research" development pattern, in the Nankai tourism education On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of tourism education in Nankai, the School of Tourism and Services decided to establish the "Nankai Tourism Education Development Industry Advisory Committee" (hereinafter referred to as "the Committee").
The establishment of this committee is based on three development needs: Firstly, it is oriented towards the need of "international first-class disciplines and first-class colleges" construction. It is a fundamental requirement for the high-quality development of tourism education in Nankai to serve the major national strategies and industrial development needs, and to form a more international orientation with Chinese characteristics, which cannot be achieved without the in-depth participation of industry experts. Secondly, it is necessary to strengthen the strategic decision-making and top-level design of the College's development. In the new stage of development of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the College needs to listen carefully to the valuable opinions and suggestions provided by industry experts in formulating development plans, innovating development models, exploring reform and development, and pooling development forces, etc., and try to turn them into important measures for the College to promote development. Thirdly, it is necessary to promote information exchange and resource sharing for the integration of industry, academia and research. To bring together the industry, alumni and a wider range of social forces, in order to promote comprehensive education and rapid improvement in the quality of tourism disciplines; to promote the exchange of information and resource sharing between all parties, in order to form a closer industry cooperation and exchange relations. To strengthen the construction of the "industry-academia-research community" and to empower the prosperity of the cultural tourism industry.
II. Objectives and functions
Purpose: Under the guidance of the School of Tourism and Services of Nankai University, the committee adheres to the Nankai spirit of patriotism and professionalism, practices the Nankai mission of "knowing China and serving China", and takes "serving science and education, seeking common development and collaborative innovation" as its purpose, focusing on cultural tourism Nankai's mission is to "serve science and education, seek common development and collaborate and innovate", to form a strategic consultation and cooperation and exchange platform that is closely linked, active and efficient, and inclusive, and to make contributions to the prosperity of culture and tourism science and education.
Organization: The committee is a counseling, consulting, guiding and supporting organization for the industry and society to participate in the cause of tourism education in Nankai, a bridge to establish a stable, comprehensive and close contact between the college and the industry, a bridge and link for cooperation between industry, academia and research, and a voluntary organization of government advisors, famous experts in the industry, famous entrepreneurs, outstanding alumni, association leaders and representatives of people from all walks of life who are enthusiastic and concerned about supporting tourism education in Nankai. It is a public welfare organization organized in a voluntary manner. The committee will have an office or secretariat, and the relevant departments of the college will be responsible for the day-to-day affairs.
Functions: The committee will perform four main functions. (1) strategic advisory services for the development of the College's disciplines; (2) guidance for the cultivation of talents and the growth of students; (3) communication and exchange and promotion of domestic and international industrial forces; (4) fund-raising and integration of resources for the development of "industrial research integration". The committee holds 1-2 meetings per year and regularly conducts research and exchange, seminars, cooperation and docking activities.
III. Rights and obligations
Committee members enjoy the following rights.
1、Invited to participate in the plenary meetings held by the Committee, to participate in the annual industry-university-research theme activities organized by the College, and to obtain relevant communication materials and various non-reimbursable services provided by the relevant parties.
2、Priority to enjoy the College's relevant resources platform opening, transformation of scientific and educational achievements, talent recruitment publicity and promotion, industry cooperation resources recommended services and enjoy preferential treatment.
3、Priority to members of the unit to provide talent training, scientific research, campus promotion activities and other services and enjoy the corresponding preferential treatment.
4、Go into the member units, free of charge for the unit employees to provide the college education program enrollment publicity and propaganda, help enterprises and units to improve the level of human resources.
Committee members should do the following obligations.
1、Participate enthusiastically in meetings and related activities, and actively provide opinions and suggestions to promote the development of Nankai's cultural and tourism education.
2、Wide contact and integration of industry resources, and adopt various ways to help the development of the College's disciplines.
3、Strengthen communication with the head of the committee office or secretariat and update personal and unit information in a timely manner.
IV. Other
1、The committee is an open organisation and members join or withdraw on a voluntary basis. For members who do not attend relevant activities and do not perform their duties during the appointment period, their appointment will not be renewed after the expiry of the appointment period.
2、The committee shall hold meetings to draw up relevant statutes and regulations and optimise the composition of the organisation in accordance with the above-mentioned purposes and principles, so as to continuously enhance the effect of the committee.
3、Members shall strictly abide by the rights and obligations of the relevant provisions of the Association's organisation.
Operation of the Committee
1. The Committee meets once every academic year to keep in close contact with the School on the latest developments in the industry and the employment needs of enterprises.
2. Some members of the Industry Advisory Committee are undergraduate industry tutors and MTA industry tutors, who participate in the teaching of the school's courses, conduct various lectures, seminars, case studies, etc., and supervise students' graduation theses.
3. Members of the Industry Advisory Committee are required to actively participate in various activities organised by the School, such as academic seminars, thematic forums, conferences and student seminars,etc.
