In order to celebrate the Centennial birthday of Nankai University, to review the original intention of setting up Department of Tourism, and to encourage teachers and students to make progress, on the morning of October 12, the special exhibition on the history of Tourism Discipline of Nankai University officially opened in the Exhibition Laboratory of the college.
The exhibition was divided into three parts. The first part collected the graduation photos of the students from the class of 1985 to 2019. From the old yellow photos to today's high-definition digital photos, it clearly demonstrated the beautiful youth spent by generations of tourism students in Nankai University. After leaving the school, they continue to uphold the spirit of dedicating to the public interests, to acquire of all-round capability, to actively forge ahead in all walks of life, to strive for success, to aspire for daily progress. Their behavior and spirit show the elegant demeanour of Nankai students, and fulfill Nankai's commitment to the country and society.
The second part of the exhibition took “Tourism discipline and Tourism Department teachers and students in memory” as the theme and displayed the news reporting on the teachers and students of the Tourism Department in Nankai University Daily from the early 1980s to the mid-1990s. It was divided into six themes, including "Knowing China and serving China", "Fostering virtues, cultivating people, becoming good teachers and helpful friends", "Pursuing scientific research and lofty aspirations", "Putting morality first and all-round development", "Cultivating people through practice and service-learning" and "Applying learning to serve the society", It showed the spirit of unity, innovation and breakthrough of teachers and students in the early days of the establishment of the Department of tourism. The contents of the exhibition were carefully collected and sorted out by Associate Professor Meng Fanqiang in three months.
The third part of the exhibition include the academic works, old textbooks, graduation memorials and other materials provided by some teachers and alumni of the college, some teachers and students' certificates of award-winning participation in the competition, as well as gifts from brother colleges and partner institutions. The fruitful academic achievements reflect the brilliant achievements of Nankai Tourism Discipline and encourage today's teachers and students to continue to move forward along the footprints of their predecessors.
On the first day of the exhibition, some alumni of grade 1989 returned to the school and became the first group of visitors to the exhibition. Nearly 100 alumni, teachers and students attended the exhibition. Next, the college will organize students of all grades to visit and study here, and old teachers will tell old stories to the students to encourage the new generation of tourism students to inherit history and forge ahead.
