During the celebration of the 98th anniversary of Nankai University and the 30th anniversary of the alumni from the class of 1987 graduation, the alumni made silver coins for the 30th anniversary of graduation and donated them to the History Museum of Nankai University and the Nankai Alumni Association for permanent collection.
The Organizing Committee of the alumni from the class of 1987 returning to school activity of Nankai Tourism Alumni Association believes that the 30 years after graduation is a milestone in the track of each graduate, and it needs a souvenir with character, weight, and it can be viewed and passed on to future generations. Following the suggestion of Yang Jianhua, a collector of historical coins and an alumnus from the tourism foreign language major class of 1987, the Organizing Committee unanimously approved the decision to produce silver coins commemorating the 30-year graduation of Tourism Department alumni from the class of 1987. The silver commemorative coins were designed and made by alumni Yang Jianhua after brainstorming and according to the opinions of the alumni. It took three months and underwent many modifications. Finally, the silver commemorative coins were born.
The design on one side of the commemorative coin is the Nankai university emblem, which is atmospheric, introverted, graceful, giving consideration to both China and the west, and combining Arts and Sciences, vividly highlighting the unique style and charm of Nankai culture.
The graphic patterns on the other side of the commemorative coin are the theme of coinage, the main building, the statue of the premier, the school motto, rice and books, implying the spiritual pursuit of Nankai students to explore the past and the present, to work hard and to serve the people.
The commemorative silver coins were processed by a professional mint, and the advanced mirror deepening relief technology was used to create a total of 100 coins which were made of 999 pure silver. The coins were presented to each graduate and teacher attending the party. Wang Chunfeng, the President of Nankai Tourism Alumni Association, donated two commemorative silver coins to the Archives of Nankai University and Nankai Alumni Association for collection on behalf of the tourism alumni from the class of 1987.
