Academic experience
Dr. MA Xiaolong is the Professor at College of Tourism and Service Management, Nankai University. He was the research fellow of China Tourism Academy before he joined Nankai. He is the member of the Standardization Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, the member of Tourism Geography Committee of Chinese Geographical Society, and the expert of Chinese National Commission for the International Council on Monuments and Sites. He also serves as the editorial board member of Tourism Management.
His research interests focus on the tourism planning and scenic spot design, evolution of tourism regional system, rural tourism development, etc. He has published about 100 refereed journal articles in major domestic and international refereed journals. He has published 6 academic monographs and presided more than 10 National Natural Science Foundation projects, sub project of major projects of Social Science Foundation and other scientific research projects.
Industry experience, including industry related professional development
He has participated in the drafting of a series of documents such as the national tourism law, the 12th and 13th Five-Year Development Plan, the Outline of National Tourism and Leisure, and the No. 41 and No. 31 documents of the State Council. He also engaged in the research, formulation and demonstration of various tourism standards such as acceptance rules of all-for-one tourism demonstration areas and management measures for tourism planning qualification. He has worked out more than 100 tourism development plans, overall tourism plans, scenic spot control plans, tourism site construction plans, etc. for provinces, autonomous regions, cities and counties in China.
