1. Application Requirements

A. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid foreigner’s passport.

Please note:According to the relevant regulations of Ministry of Education of the PRC, residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan who have emigrated to other countries and are applying to Nankai University as international students must have held a valid foreigner’s passport or citizenship documents before April 30, 2018, along with proof of cancellation of Chinese nationality.

B. Applicants for a Master’s programme must hold a Chinese undergraduate degree or an equivalent degree; those who are applying for a PhD programme must hold a Chinese master degree or an equivalent degree.

C.Applicants should have reached HSK Level5 with a score of no less than 210. 

D.Applicants must not have a criminal record and must abide by the laws of China, complywith the rules of Nankai University, and respect the customs of the Chinese people.

> Ph.D Programme: Ph.D in Tourism Management

3.Study Plan and Length of Study

Master’s Programme: 3 years （4 years maximum） 

Ph.D Programme: 4 years (6 years maximum)

5.Application Process, Materials, and Fee

I. Application Process

This is an online application. Register and fill out the relevant information on Nankai University’s International Student Service Platform, which can be found at the website:https://nankai.at0086.cn/StuApplication.

II. Application Materials

Please note:For items C, D. E, H, and I, pleaserefer to theRequirements for“ Nankai University International Students Required Application Documents.pdf Nankai University International Students Required Application Documents.docx”.

A.Notarized diploma of the highest level of education obtained. Applicants expecting to graduate this academic year must submit an official document issued by their current school to prove their current student status and expected graduation date.

B. Complete academic transcripts of the highest level of education.

C.Personal Statement, including a study or research plan, financial situation, reasons for scholarship application, honors and awards, personal strengths, etc. (no less than 800 words).

D. Two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors. The letters should bewritten in Chinese or English.

E.Acceptance FormofSupervisorbyaNankai University Professor(need only be submitted by those applying for a PhD)

F.Certification of LanguageProficiency

G.Valid Passport (the passport must be valid until at least April 1, 2023)

H.Record of Physical Examination for Foreigners: can be filled out in Chinese or English.The requirements for testingmust be rigorously adhered to as laid out in the form. The result must be issued after October 2021 in order to be valid.

I. Proof of Financial Security

Please note:the above materials should be in Chinese or English. If any documents are in a language other than Chinese or English, then a notarized translation into Chinese or English must be provided.

III. Application Fee

The application fee for each programme is 600 RMB.

6. Assessment and Admission

The information intheapplication materials should be identical with those in the passport and the valid visa or residence permit used for application.After the evaluation of applicants’application materials,academic collegeswill decide whether to add an additional examination or interview based on the applicants educational backgrounds and majorsapplied for. Specific dates will be announced by the department ofthemajor.

The applicants who pass the screening of application materials and thematerial evaluationwill be admitted by Nankai University. The admission committee of the Nankai University willre-check the information and materialssupplied bythe applicant. If any sort of fraud, inconsistency,or violation of rules is discovered and verified, the applicant will be disqualified from admission. Admission results will beannouncedin the registration system ormailed to the applicant.

December 1–March 31:	students applying for admission and scholarship submit online application and documents, first round of assessment
March 31– April15:	interviews with individual departments for students applying for admission and scholarship
April 1 –May31:	self-support students applying for admission submit online application and documents, first round of assessment
April 30 – May 15:	scholarship results announced
June 1 – June15:	interviews with individual departments for self-support students
July 1 – July 15:	results of application for self-support students announced
July 15:	admission materials will be sent out

7. Registration and Arrival on Campus

I. The date for registration and arrival on campus will be in accordance with what is

issued on your Admission Notice as well as any announcements made by the School

of International Education.

II. Students who have been admitted must comply strictly with the date included on the Admission Notice and with the required registration process.

III. Students must supply theirdegreecertificateand otherrequireddocumentsduring registration. If any inconsistencies are discovered they will begrounds for disqualification.

IV.Ifstudents applying from outside of China are prevented from entering China because of COVID-19 prevention measures, colleges will provide online classes and set periods of online counseling. Specific details will be sent to the email of the admitted student.

8. Tuition and Scholarship Programmes

B. China Studies Programme Scholarship

Application Deadline: February 28, 2022.

C. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

Scholarship value: Exemption from tuition fee, provision of accommodation fee, provision of coverage of comprehensive medical insurance, and a living allowance. (Register at the website to apply:http://cis.chinese.cn/account/login.)

Application Deadline: May 15, 2022.

D.International Confucian AssociationScholarship

Scholarship Value: Exemption from tuition fee, provision of accommodation fee, provision of coverage of comprehensive medical insurance, and a living allowance.

Application Deadline: March 31, 2022.

E.Tianjin Government Scholarship

Scholarship value: tuition allowance. Please note: this scholarship doesn’t need to be applied for independently. Students will be selected to win this scholarship once a year.

Application Deadline: May 15, 2022.

F.Study-at-NKUPresident Scholarship

Scholarship value: tuition allowance,accommodationallowance or living allowance.

Application Deadline: May 31, 2022.

9. Medical Insurance

According to the regulations of Ministry of Educationof P. R. China,international students must purchase comprehensive medical insurancefor foreign students while they are studying in China.International students may purchase insurance the day of registration at the registration site. Uninsured students will not be registered. Information concerning insurance for international students can be found at the website:http://www.lxbx.net/.

10. Accommodation

The standard pricing of on-campusaccommodationfor international students is 1500 RMB/student/monthto 3000 RMB/student/month. There are two options available. (New students must live on-campus for their first year.)
