The centre mainly carries out research on the development of modern marine tourism and research on new forms of marine tourism such as cruise ships. It hosted the Pingtan International Tourism Island Summit Forum and the Lianyungang "Belt and Road" Marine Tourism Innovation and Development Forum, and published "Ocean Tourism - National Vision and Practical Exploration".
