From March 31 to April 2, the "National First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Work and Curriculum Ideological and Political Training Conference of the Tourism Management Professional Education Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Education" took place in Haikou City, Hainan Province. Representatives from over 150 universities nationwide, including our Vice Dean Professor Yao Yanbo, Associate Professor Du Wei, Associate Professor Zhou Jie, Associate Professor Liang Sai, and Associate Professor Wang Jingna, attended the conference. The event focused on crucial topics such as first-class professional construction, curriculum ideological and political education, and textbook construction.
During the opening ceremony, the main person in charge of the Humanities and Social Sciences Education Department of the Ministry of Education provided important insights into the core concepts of talent cultivation in higher education in the new era, guiding the direction of future tourism professional construction. Professor Zhao Shuhong, Secretary General of the Education Steering Committee, reported on the committee's work in 2022. Keynote speeches were delivered by Chairman Professor Tian Weimin and Vice-Chair Professors Ma Yong, Gao Jun, Zhang Jie, covering topics like curriculum construction, preparation for national first-class professional acceptance, and various aspects of research travel teaching practice.
Our college, entrusted by the Education Advisory Committee, is responsible for developing the "Tourism Consumer Behavior" curriculum ideological and political demonstration course, led by Associate Professor Du Wei. During the conference, Du Wei provided relevant training for delegates on curriculum knowledge system construction and ideological and political material mining.
Professor Yao Yanbo, Vice Dean, delivered a speech on the topic of "Refining Ideological and Political Guidelines for Major Courses in Tourism Management." He explored the development of guidelines tailored to the characteristics of tourism management majors and provided valuable recommendations for advancing the construction of national first-class majors in tourism management.
Additionally, during the conference, experts and scholars engaged in lively discussions on topics including professional construction, ideological curriculum, political education, and textbook development. Representatives from our faculty had extensive and in-depth exchanges and interactions with expert members of the Education Steering Committee and representatives from sister universities. This conference greatly contributes to advancing the construction and accreditation of national first-class undergraduate majors in our college.
