Recently, after recommendation by the college and multiple rounds of university-level evaluations, the list of "Top Ten Outstanding Graduates of Nankai University" for the academic year 2022-2023 has been officially released. With the correct guidance and strong support of the CPC Committee, College of Tourism and Service Management, Nankai University, and the administrative team, Wu Dongdong, a PhD candidate majoring in Tourism Management from the class of 2021, has successfully been awarded the honor of "Top Ten Outstanding Graduates of Nankai University" for the current academic year.
Since joining Professor Li Hui's research team, Wu Dongdong has diligently and earnestly pursued his studies in accordance with the curriculum requirements. He has consistently ranked among the top three in average credit scores within his major. His presentation at the doctoral forum of Nankai Tourism Lecture was recognized as a "High-Quality Experiential Speech." In addition to his academic achievements, Wu Dongdong has actively contributed to various collective and social welfare activities. He has served as the student assistant in the college's research office, the group leader of the third Party Branch for graduate students, and the teaching assistant for the undergraduate e-commerce courses. Wu Dongdong has received several honors and awards, including the National Scholarship for Postgraduates, Nankai University's "Triple Good" Student Award, and the Gongneng Scholarship.
Guided by the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, his academic research focuses on key issues within the field of tourism, centering on national strategic priorities such as economic sustainability and high-quality development of enterprises. He roots in the homeland and conducts interdisciplinary research in tourism, implementing the national strategy for the construction of new disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, and telling the Chinese story to the world. During his doctoral studies, Wu Dongdong has published multiple academic papers as the first author or corresponding author in authoritative journals in the fields of the International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, and Operations Management Research. He has contributed a total of four high-quality outcomes in the first-class field of tourism and top-tier journals in the first zone of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He actively participated in research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology's National-level Foreign Expert Projects, and Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation Projects. Additionally, he assisted the team in applying for national major projects, providing strong support for the construction of the Tourism Big Data and Decision-making team. Guided by the needs of national major strategies, he has engaged in practical research, embodying the university motto of "Dedication to public interests, acquisition of all-round capability" and contributing to China's development through knowledge and service.
He actively participates in international exchanges, and his presentation at the inaugural meeting of the China Tourism Education Cooperation Alliance and the Annual Forum on the Frontiers of Tourism Research was awarded the Best English Paper Prize. He has been granted the qualification for the national scholarship to visit Temple University for academic exchange, and collaborate with Professor Xiang Robert Li, an internationally renowned scholar in the field of tourism and the Associate Editor of the top-tier international journal, Tourism Management. In addition, he has received recognition such as the Excellent Academic Master's Thesis Award from Jiangsu Province and the second prize for outstanding academic papers in natural sciences awarded by the Wuxi Municipal People's Government. He serves as a reviewer for over 10 international authoritative academic journals in the field of management, as well as international academic conferences organized by the International Association for Chinese Management Research, accumulating more than 80 instances of peer review services.
It is understood that recipients of the "Top Ten Outstanding Graduates of Nankai University" are further selected from winners of the National Scholarship for Postgraduates at Nankai University. The candidates are outstanding graduate students with significant research capabilities and outstanding development potential. Only 10 individuals are selected each year, and these contestants are truly one in a thousand.
