Recently, the list of projects approved by the National Social Science Foundation of China for the year 2023 was announced, and our teachers have been approved for a total of three general projects. They are: Professor Xu Hong's application for "Research on the Mechanism and Path of Spatial Governance in Rural Tourism Destinations from the Perspective of New Liquidity", Professor Yao Yanbo's application for "Research on the Theoretical Framework, Mechanism, and Implementation Strategy of Tourism-based Active Aging from a Diverse Perspective", and Associate Professor Li Xiaoyi's application for "Crowding Out" or "Complementarity"? An Experimental Study on the Interaction between Material Incentives and Social Preferences ". The above research is guided by the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, actively implementing the national strategy of "comprehensively promoting rural revitalization", "solidly promoting the revitalization of rural industries, talents, culture, ecology, and organizations", and "consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation"; Implement "promoting the construction of a healthy China", from the perspective of the tourism industry, and "implementing the national strategy of actively responding to population aging"; actively implement the spirit of "Chinese path to modernization is a modernization in which material civilization and spiritual civilization are coordinated".
Previously, our college teachers have been approved for one Ministry of Science and Technology Foreign Language Program (Professor Li Hui: Research on Tourism Sustainable Development Strategy Based on Intelligent Boosting). Three projects approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Professor Li Hui: Explainable Dynamic Integrated Prediction of Future Value of Event Driven Tourism Enterprises Based on Multimodal Data; Associate Professor Liang Sai: Research on the Formation Mechanism and Governance Strategy of Opportunistic Behavior in the Shared Homestay Market from the Perspective of Incomplete Contracts; Dr. Ma Shigui: Food Delivery Supply Chain Decision-making Considering Multi-subject Environmental Responsibility under the Background of "Dual Carbon"). One key project approved by the National Social Science Foundation to study and interpret the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (Professor Shi Peihua: Research on the Layered Classification System for Promoting the Deep Integration of Culture and Tourism Development).
At present, the professors of our college have been approved for a total of 8 national-level projects, reaching the highest level in history. The approved project types are diverse, including those from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the National Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences. The approved projects come from multiple disciplines, including management, theoretical economics, economic geography, tourism management, and management systems engineering. The above approved multiple national-level scientific research projects confirm the characteristics of high-level interdisciplinary research in tourism management in our institute, which helps to promote the construction of the tourism management discipline plateau and peak in Nankai with "interdisciplinary attributes" and "new liberal arts characteristics".
In recent years, our college has taken root in the characteristic practical issues of tourism management discipline in China and has steadily implemented national strategies such as "comprehensively promoting rural revitalization", "promoting the construction of a healthy China", "building a modern industrial system", "adhering to sustainable development", and "promoting cultural confidence and self-improvement" under the guidance of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. It strives to promote high-quality development of culture and tourism by "shaping tourism with culture and highlighting culture with tourism", making phased progress. College teachers adhere to the principle of "facing the forefront of world science and technology, the main battlefield of the economy, major national needs, and people's health and life", constantly relying on tourism science issues rooted in the motherland, integrating advanced science and technology from both breadth and depth and conducting high-level tourism science research. Our college has achieved phased results in the construction of a world-class discipline in tourism and leisure management, which is conducive to promoting the revitalization strategy of Nankai University's humanities.
