On June 8, 2023, the final of the 2023 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Exhibition Planning Competition of College Students was successfully held at the College of Tourism and Service Management, Nankai University. 18 distinguished guests attended this competition, including Chu Xiangyin, the Vice President of the China Exhibition Economy Research Association, Shi Chun, the Director of the Exhibition Economy Division of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Xu Jin, the Manager of the Party and Mass Work Department of the National Exhibition Center (Tianjin) Limited Liability Company, Wei Nan, the Director of the Education Reform Department of the Tianjin Haihe Educational Region Management Committee, An Xiaobo, the former president of the Hebei Exhibition Industry Association and currently working as the director of the Exhibition Research Institute of Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, Wang Zhi, the Vice President of the Hebei Exhibition Industry Association and the General Manager of Hebei Dingya Exhibition Services Co., Ltd., Yang Qi, the Deputy Director of the CPC Committee Office (President's Office) of Tianjin Business University and the Director of the Exhibition Research Institute, Mu Xueming, the General Manager of CITS Lohas (Tianjin) International Business Exhibition Co., Ltd., Zhao Xinyu, the Chairman of Olinko Exhibition Display (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., Wang Wei, the Secretary of the CPC Committee of the College of Tourism and Service Management, and Yao Yanbo, the Vice Dean of the College of Tourism and Service Management. The event was hosted by Zhou Jie, the Director of the Department of MICE Economy and Management of the College of Tourism and Service Management.
The competition was hosted by the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Tianjin Haihe Educational Region Management Committee, and the Youth League Committee of Nankai University, organized by the College of Tourism and Service Management, and co-sponsored by the Tianjin Business University Exhibition Research Institute and the Tianjin Exhibition-Education Integration Talent Innovation Alliance. This competition aimed to showcase advanced forms of urban development based on new development concepts and new models of sustainable urban construction in the new era. It sought to create an essential platform for cultural display and communication in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Since the announcement, the competition received strong support from higher education institutions and vocational schools in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. After internal selections at each school, a total of 26 teams entered the finals.
During the event, speeches were delivered by Shi Chun, Xu Jin, and Wang Wei, encouraging students to embrace challenges, engage in diligent study and practice, and actively contribute to the development of the exhibition industry in China.
Following the speeches, teams from various universities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region presented their projects in two tracks. The topics covered a range of fields, including medical care, health preservation, education popularization, high-tech, reflecting the development of the "exhibition +" industry and showcasing a new system in the exhibition industry characterized by high quality, efficiency, structural optimization, and strong competitiveness. Comments and feedback were provided by the three guest speakers Chu Xiangyin, Zhao Xinyu, and Shi Chun, who emphasized the hopeful and challenging nature of the exhibition industry. They asked the students to cherish this rare opportunity, enhance themselves, practice actively, enrich their knowledge, and contribute to their development.
After the evaluation, the university track awarded one first prize, two second prizes, and five third prizes. The vocational track awarded one first prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes. Our college's teams achieved excellent results in the competition. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Cheng Hongbo, a team of 10 undergraduate students majoring in MICE Management completed the project "First (2024) Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Exhibition Planning" and won the first prize. Another project, "Tianjin International Green, Smart, and Healthy Expo," led by Associate Professor Li Xiaoyi, consisting of 4 students from different academic years, received the second prize.
The competition has ended successfully, and the participating students have expressed that with the guidance of expert judges, they have further deepened their understanding of the exhibition industry, and have also gained exercise and enriched their professional knowledge through the competition practice. In the future, the College of Tourism and Service Management will continue to hold exhibition planning competitions to promote the cultivation of innovative talents in the exhibition industry and contribute to the flourishing development of the exhibition sector.
