In order to combine teaching and practice closely and help students deeply understand and digest the knowledge they have learned, on May 11, 2023, the College of Tourism and Service Management organized students of Grade 2020 to carry out professional practice training at The Astor Hotel Tianjin and Tianjin Museum of Finance.
At noon on the 11th, students began the practice course with the predetermined research questions. Astor Hotel Tianjin, as the only national cultural relic protection unit in the hotel industry, is a witness to the modern history of Tianjin and even China and builds the first hotel museum in China. By visiting the nine thematic sections of the museum, including "100 years of time and space", "100 years of old houses", "100 years of starting base", "100 years of charm" and "100 years of exploration", students learned about hotel's profound cultural heritage, such as history culture, architectural culture, celebrity culture, catering culture and corporate culture. Students also fully experienced the development of The Astor Hotel for a century and a half and the ups and downs of modern Chinese history. During the visit to Tianjin Museum of Finance, students learned about the history of financial development through six exhibition areas, including financial history and current situation, Finance and Us, China's financial history, futures history, Gold Special Exhibition, and the Most Beautiful Currency Exhibition. In addition, through the Red Gene Exhibition of Chinese finance, students learned the history of exploration, struggle and dedication of red finance from the founding of the Communist Party of China to the founding of New China.
Through this activity, students gain a deeper understanding of Tianjin's historical and cultural tourism resources. Under the background of the current in-depth integration of culture and tourism, it is also the significance of this professional internship to allow students to combine what they have learned in their major and make suggestions on the development of cultural tourism products and the development of cultural tourism industry in Tianjin from practical problems. It is reported that the college will also continue to hold activities such as business visits to broaden students' horizons, help tourism and service students' knowledge transformation, and better serve society with what they have learned.
