Recently, the Tianjin Municipal People's Government Consultation Office officially appointed our associate professor Meng Fanqiang as a "special research fellow of the Tianjin Municipal People's Government Consultation Office" for three years. Through this appointment, the teachers of the College of Tourism and Service Management will leverage the advantages of the tourism discipline to better provide consulting services for the economic and social development of Tianjin city.

The government consultation system was established under the leadership of revolutionary figures such as Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai. It is an initiative to apply the theory of the Party's united front to the construction of national political power. Since its establishment in 2002, the Tianjin Municipal People's Government Consultation Office has adhered to the principle of centring on the overall situation, fully exerted its role in consultation, democratic supervision, and united front activities, and closely focused on key, challenging, and hot issues facing the economic and social development of Tianjin. Over the past 20 years, the Consultation Office has submitted a series of high-quality research results to the municipal government, covering various aspects and fields such as livelihood security, ecological, environmental protection, health care and elderly care, cultural industry, financial innovation, poverty alleviation, private economy, and free trade zone construction, making positive contributions to the high-quality development of Tianjin's economy and society.
