In order to let students understand the characteristics of tourism management, guide students to flexibly apply their professional capabilities, and help students clarify their career development plans, the Department of Tourism invited Deng Youchao, a 2011 undergraduate major in tourism management, and Lin Lin, a 2011 undergraduate Zhen and Zang Ye, a 2010 undergraduate student, held an experience sharing session for outstanding alumni majoring in tourism management on the evening of October 29, 2022. Associate Professor Huang Jing, Head of the Tourism Department, and Associate Professor Liang Sai, Deputy Head, attended the sharing session. Associate Professor Meng Fanqiang also presided over the sharing session.
Alumnus Deng Youchao, who is currently the development director of the high-end hotel business department of Huazhu Group, first shared his professional learning experience and career development path, combined with reflections on years of working experience in the hotel industry, and introduced the fundamental characteristics of high-end hotels and the current development status of high-end hotels in our country. Then, alumnus Lin Zhen, who used to work in Aecom and the five major consulting companies, and now works in ByteDance, shared with the students the prospect of cultural tourism industry combined with his working experience in hotel and real estate development consulting, with a focus on the hotel industry and cultural tourism real estate consulting industry.
Afterwards, alumnus Zang Ye, Project Director of Bulk Trade Business Department and Innovative Finance Business Department Project Manager of China Merchants Bureau of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, shared his understanding of the comprehensiveness, intersectionality and diversity of the tourism management major, as well as the experience of on-campus and off-campus activities during the undergraduate period, and the work experience in Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone. Combined with the work plan in the Free Trade Zone, he also introduced the development layout of Tianjin and tourism development status.
After the alumni sharing session, under the organization of Associate Professor Meng Fanqiang, the sharing guests and the participating students had further dialogues and exchanges on topics such as the balance between study and practical life, the development of professional ability, and access to information in the tourism industry. The shared guests also shared their learning experience during the undergraduate period around the questions they asked, emphasizing the role of professional learning in promoting career development and the importance of establishing the concept of lifelong learning. The event was successfully concluded under the host of Associate Professor Meng Fanqiang.
At the sharing meeting, three outstanding alumni born in the 1990s were invited to communicate sincerely with students born in the 2000s, which enhanced students' understanding of tourism management, enriched students' professional learning experience, and deepened students' understanding of tourism career development.
