From 1 pm to 5 pm on October 29, 2022, the "High-quality Construction and Development of Tourism First-class Courses" Seminar hosted by the College of Tourism and Service Management, Nankai University, was successfully held. The seminar focused on the construction of professional courses in tourism, and invited four national first-class undergraduate teaching team experts to share their experiences in online construction of high-quality professional courses in tourism.

Professor Li Chuanyong, Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Nankai University, was invited to deliver a speech. She first pointed out that higher education in the new era faces several challenges brought by social and environmental changes. After that, she introduced several reform measures of Nankai University under the concept of a community of teachers and students, such as the construction of first-class courses, the construction of a wisdom academy, and the establishment of a student guidance Center in the Academic Affairs Office, which emphasizes the dual principal role of teachers and students in curriculum construction, stimulates the two-way and multi-dimensional interaction between teachers and students in and out of class, on and off campus, and reshapes the traditional teaching. In the end, Director Li especially praised the characteristic achievements of the College of Tourism and Service Management in the construction of the First Wisdom Academy, MOOCs, integrated courses. She hoped that the construction of tourism courses in Nankai University would become better and better.

The seminar was hosted by Professor Yao Yanbo, Vice Dean of the College of Tourism and Services Management. First of all, Professor Yao introduced that this seminar aims to provide a platform for domestic teachers to share experience and exchange experiences for the high-quality construction and development of first-class tourism courses. Secondly, she introduced the four keynote speakers, Prof. Li Xinjian, Executive Director of the Capital Institute of Culture and Tourism Development, Beijing International Studies University; Prof. Huang Xiaoting, Vice Dean of the School of Management, Shandong University; Prof. Wei Wei, Vice Dean of the Research Center for Tourism Development and Planning, South China University of Technology; and Prof. Tang Fanming, Dean of the School of Hotel Management, Guilin University of Tourism. Finally, she welcomes to all the teachers from other colleges who participated in the conference.

Professor Li Xinjian from Beijing International Studies University shared the theme "Promoting the Construction of Tourism Courses with High Quality and Perseverance". On the one hand, Professor Li shared his experience in the construction of the "Gold Course" based on his experience in the evaluation of first-class courses, such as clarifying the basic requirements of the construction of the "Gold course", attaching importance to the optimization of the content of the "Gold course" and emphasizing the evaluation focus of the "Gold course". In addition, Professor Li combined years of teaching experience and curriculum reform practice, taking the construction of "Tourism Economics", a national first-class offline undergraduate course as an example. Making a brief sharing of the main problems of tourism curriculum construction, the practice of combining with scientific research, the evaluation and optimization of curriculum teaching effect, the innovative measures of technology enabling "teaching" and "learning", as well as the continuous promotion of curriculum construction and so on.

Professor Huang Xiaoting, Vice Dean of the School of Management, Shandong University, shared the theme of "Experience Sharing on the Construction and Application of Virtual Simulation National First-class Course "Virtual Simulation Experiment of Scenic Tourism Product Development". Professor Huang gave a specific and detailed introduction from six aspects: experimental purpose, project characteristics, experimental methods, interactive steps, application and future planning of the virtual simulation course. She also showed the script file of the course construction.

Professor Wei Wei from the Department of Tourism Management of the South China University of Technology shared the theme of "First-class Curriculum Construction and Exploration of Teaching Reform". Professor Wei introduced the construction process of the national first-class undergraduate online course "Principles of Hotel Management", the construction experience of the declaration of national first-class undergraduate courses and the construction of "promoting construction with evaluation and improving quality with construction", the implementation thinking of ideological and political education in the course and the practical exploration of teaching and scientific research. At the same time, Professor Wei demonstrated the rich results of curriculum construction and reform.

Professor Tang Fanming, Dean of the School of Hotel Management of Guilin Tourism University, shared the theme of "Consolidating the Curriculum Foundation and Leveraging Professional Development: The Education Practice of the National First-class Undergraduate Course of "Front Office and Room Management". Professor Tang focused on the teaching mode of "teaching and research" summarized and verified by the course team in the practice of curriculum education from six aspects: curriculum construction foundation, curriculum construction process, curriculum education effectiveness, curriculum team growth, curriculum leverage, and future planning and vision.

This seminar is one of the important measures for the College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University to implement the spirit of the National Education Conference and the requirements of the National Conference on Undergraduate Education in the New Era. At the same time, it is also a series of seminars on undergraduate teaching reform of the college, which has built a high-quality exchange platform for tourism teachers to discuss the high-quality construction and development of professional tourism courses. The seminar attracted more than 200 teachers from all over the country and achieved extensive social impact.
