In order to effectively strengthen aesthetic education, the College of Tourism and Service Management continued to carry out the "Dream Journey" aesthetic education practice series, and successfully held the "Appreciating the Beauty of Human Voice Symphony" chorus appreciation and aesthetic education activity on March 16. The event specially invited Professor Meng Chaomei, a famous chorus conductor and permanent conductor from our school’s student choir, to give a vivid and wonderful aesthetic education practice class to the students with the student choir. The Secretary of CPC Committee of our college Wang Wei attended the event and delivered a speech. More than 200 students participate in activities.
At the beginning of the event, Wang Wei said that the college is committed to cultivating tourism talents with aesthetic sentiments, and will continue to hold a series of "dream-seeking journey" aesthetic education practice activities to promote the comprehensive improvement of students' comprehensive quality. At the same time, he led the teachers and students to review the establishment and development of the Nankai University Student Choir, introduced the many honors the chorus has won, and expressed his sincere thanks to Professor Meng Chaomei. Subsequently, Wang Wei issued a letter of appointment to Professor Meng Chaomei, hiring her as the instructor of the aesthetic education practice of the college.
Professor Meng Chaomei and the student choir led the students to collectively appreciate domestic and foreign classical music works such as "Velvet Flower", "Music, Magical and Wonderful", "Jiu Er", "Happy Naadam" and "Chile Song". The students sang the interactive chorus "Nankai School Song" and "Defend the Yellow River", guiding the students to understand the basic knowledge of the chorus parts, timbre, and strength in practice, and feel the charm of music. Finally, amid the warm cheers of the students, Meng Chaomei and the student choir performed "My Home, Beautiful Nankai", singing the sincere feelings of countless Nankai people.
The performance ended with warm applause, and the students expressed that they had realized the beauty of chorus through this activity. Guo Xiaoran, a 2021 undergraduate student, said: "Through this aesthetic education activity, I not only enjoyed the music feast personally, but also felt the spiritual power contained in classical music, which made my heart surge." Students should take the initiative to accept the influence of excellent music works, and learn nutrition and wisdom from them, so as to continuously improve their aesthetic sentiment and comprehensive quality.
