Su Hongyu, Chairman of BANGYANG Culture and Tourism Co. Ltd, gives a Lecture Titled “Travel: More than Poetry and Distant Lands”

Su Hongyu, Chairman of BANGYANG Culture and Tourism Co. Ltd, MTA industry advisor of Nankai, and the vice president of Guangdong Tourism Planning and Marketing Association, gave an online lecture for undergraduates of Grade 2021 who are taking the course “Tourism Science and Humans in Tourism”. The theme of the lecture is “Travel: More than Poetry and Distant Lands”.

 

As an entrepreneur deeply involved in the field of tourism, Mr. Su Hongyu prefers to call himself a “professional traveler”. At the beginning of the lecture, Mr. Su introduced his inseparable relationship with tourism to the students by taking his own entrepreneurial experience and journey as the starting point. Shenzhen BANGYANG Tourism Project Design Co., Ltd. was established in 1999, which is the first culture and travel designing, tourism planning, landscape design, and government consulting company in China, and is also the vice-president organization of Guangdong Tourism Planning and Marketing Association. The company has conducted project consulting or scheme design for 5A-level tourist attractions such as Yellow River Hukou Falls, Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon in Tibet, World Heritage Sites such as Yongding Tulou in Fujian, and popular destinations such as Xishuangbanna in Yunnan, Wuxi in Jiangsu, and Hami in Xinjiang.

 

In the case study of “China’s tourism development: The evidence from Guilin”, Mr. Su especially mentioned the new trends of tourism development in the new situations: In the political field, The competition among major countries is crossed by a “dual circulation” pattern in which domestic and foreign markets boost each other; In the economic field, promoting industrial transformation and upgrading is imperative, and fostering green and low-carbon economic and high-quality development is gradually becoming a consensus; Affected by the pandemic, the consumer psychology and consumer demand have also undergone great changes; Promoting the goal of achieving common prosperity means more paths and programs for paired-up assistance, coordinated development between regions, balancing urban and rural development, and rural revitalization; In the cultural field, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is accompanied by flourishing culture and the rise of national brands (i.e., Guochao).

 

Combining with the changes in the general environment, Mr. Su interpreted ten trends of culture and tourism development with specific cases, they are: Accelerated cross-border integration of culture and tourism, consumers’ fondness of high-quality products, the rise of micro-vacation in urban areas, flourishing of special tourism sectors, sophistication of rural tourism, IP-based culture and tourism, scenario-based culture and tourism, aestheticization of scene design, light asset trend of culture and tourism investment, normalization of reservation tourism.

 

The lecture showed the goal of the culture and tourism development, and also offered a window into the industry for undergraduates of Grade 2021, greatly enhancing their interest and confidence to tourism science.
