On September 18th, the "Third Grand Canal Civilization Tourism Forum, World Tourism Alliance Yellow River Dialogue, and Yellow River Basin Ecological Protection and High-Quality Development Important Experimental Zone Summit," jointly sponsored by the World Tourism Alliance, the Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Shanxi Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, the Linfen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Linfen Municipal People's Government, was held at Yunqiu Mountain in Linfen City, Shanxi Province. Professor Yao Yanbo of Nankai university was invited to participate in the round-table dialogue session with the public agent of the Croatian Embassy in China, Bisera Fabrio, Chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Literary Federation, Ge Shuiping, Chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Writers Association Du Xuewen, and Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Poetry Society Wang Shan, to conduct discussions on the theme of "Civilization is colourful due to exchanges, and civilization is enriched due to mutual learning."

Pro. Yao pointed out that from a global perspective, to build Yellow River tourism into a world-class tourism product, the first step is to create world-class tourist attractions and use culture as a carrier and technology to promote the cluster development of the Yellow River tourism industry. Second, it is necessary to shape a world-class tourism image, enhance the tourism image system, and comprehensively promote world-class brand building through marketing. Finally, achieving a world-class service management level is required, strengthening regional cooperation, innovating management systems, and promoting integrated public services. Developing a sustainable development plan, ultimately achieving high-quality Yellow River tourism development.

Pro. Yao and her research team have been working with the World Tourism Alliance and the Linfen Municipal People's Government on the Grand Canal Civilization Tourism theme for five consecutive years. They were invited to attend the Grand Canal Civilization Tourism Forum and published two reports of the "Grand Canal Civilization Tourism Report" in 2019 and 2021. The publication of the reports has promoted further integration of culture and tourism, strengthened the inheritance and exchange of the Grand Canal culture, and promoted the high-quality development of world Grand Canal civilization tourism.
