The opening ceremony of the 2022 MTA freshmen at Nankai University was held at 9:00 a.m. on September 9. Regardless of online or offline participation, the students of the class of 2022 greeted the honor of admission with a vibrant attitude and opened an important new chapter in their lives.
The ceremony began with a magnificent national anthem. Chen Yulu, the president of Nankai univeristy delivered the opening speech on behalf of the faculties, students and staff of the whole school, warmly welcomed the arrival of new students, and led the new students to experience the Nankai culture. At the ceremony, all the freshmen read Premier Zhou Enlai’s poem “Songs of the Great River Flowing East”, sang the Nankai school song, and answered Zhang Boling’s old headmaster’s “three questions on Patriotism”.
In the afternoon on September 9, the College of Tourism and Service Management prepared a welcoming ceremony for the 2022 MTA freshmen. Professor Xu Hong, Dean of the School, Professor Yao Yanbo, Vice Dean of the College, Yang Xiaojing, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Dean of the College attended the ceremony, and Associate Professor Jiao Yan, Director of MTA Education Center, presided over the event.
In the welcoming ceremony, Professor Xu Hong, Dean of the college, shared with the freshmen that “choice, effort and method are equally important”, and encouraged the students to be humble and work hard, never give up the pursuit of meaning, and truly understand China, serve China, and make their own contribution to China’s rejuvenation. Professor Yao Yanbo, Vice Dean of the College, introduced the MTA education program in Nankai to the freshmen from four aspects: strategic significance, advantages, curriculum system and characteristics. She hopes that students can make full use of the advantageous resources of Nankai MTA program, seize the hard-won learning opportunities and realize a new changes in Nankai.
Mr. Duan Dongdong, CEO of Greater Bay Area Culture & Tourism Co., Ltd., and Associate Professor Meng Fanqiang from the College sent sincere messages to the students on behalf of the off-campus mentors and on-campus mentors respectively. They not only expressed their expectation for students to contribute their knowledge to the cultural and tourism industry, but also pointed out the direction for their further study. In the following meeting between teachers and students, the college’s “Super Mentor Group” met with students online, showing all the talents of Nankai faculties.
After the welcoming ceremony, Mr. Wang Chenghui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, gave the first lecture to the new students with the theme of “Remembering the history of the College, learning the history of the University and the history of the Party”. After the lecture, the students were deeply inspired, amazed by the rich connotation of the word “Nankai”, shocked by the unique character and personality of the Nankai people, and felt the heavy responsibility on their shoulders. The students deeply realized that for Nankai students, the history of Nankai University and the history of Nankai education are textbooks that inspire us to carry forward our glorious tradition and create a bright future. Learning from the history of Nankai University is a compulsory course for adhering to the Nankai road, carrying forward the character of Nankai, carrying forward the spirit of Nankai, strengthening Nankai’s self-confidence and pushing forward the various undertakings of Nankai University.
Finally, Ms. Liu Xinyu, Mr. Tang Zhe and Ms. Wang Zheng of the MTA Education Center gave the students an introductory education, explaining the training plan in detail, guiding them on how to choose courses, introducing the MTA scholarship system and the relevant requirements for successful graduation and obtaining a degree.
