On June 9, the School of Medicine held the fourth situation and policy course in this semester through Tencent Conference. Professor Shi Peihua in our college, the director of the Provincial and Ministerial Joint Construction and Innovation Center for Modern Tourism Industry Development, was invited to give a lecture with the theme of “Accelerating the Deep Cross-Integration and Collaborative Innovation of ‘Medicine plus Tourism’”.
Professor Shi started the guest lecture with the "Ten Winds" of Chinese civilization evolution from the perspective of cultural tourism and the tourism ideas retrieved from hundreds of schools of thought. He then talked about the characteristics of tourism development trends and explained the importance of accelerating the development of "medicine plus tourism".
Subsequently, Professor Shi talked about the system and content of interdisciplinary integration and collaborative innovation on "medicine plus tourism", and introduced Nankai University’s current achievements in this field. Then, he explained to the students the relevant policies and plans in our country to promote "medicine plus tourism". The outbreak control and tourism development have become the urgent pursuit of our country and the people. In the end of the guest lecture, he introduced the advantages of Nankai University in promoting "medicine plus tourism" and looked forward to the prospects of this interdisciplinary field.
After the class, the students all expressed their deep interest in the interdisciplinary major of "medicine plus tourism". The course received unanimous praise from the students.
Under the background of pandemic, Nankai University innovatively promoted the development of “medicine plus tourism”, and the our center cooperated with the School of Medicine to apply for the construction of a national high-level public health college, take medicine + tourism as one of the featured disciplines, and promote the construction of a national emergency rescue demonstration school. After the fierce competition, the first medical + tourism doctoral index in China was established, and the key project of "Research on Deep Cross-integration and Collaborative Innovation of Tourism + Medicine" was funded by the Liberal Arts Development Fund in Nankai University. Nankai university also applied for the fund supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on tourism health risks and service models, and the tourism health project funded by Tianjin Social Science Fund. In addition, two monographs "Guidelines for the Development of Public Health Prevention and Control and Health Tourism", nearly 30 medical + tourism-related papers in domestic and foreign academic journals such as SSCI and CSSCI were published, which received the third prize of Tianjin Think Tank Achievement Award.
