On August 19, the National Natural Science Foundation of China ( NSFC) announced the evaluation results of the application projects during the 2021 centralized acceptance period, and 4 projects in our college were approved, among which 2 surface projects and 2 youth science fund projects. The number of funded projects ranked the third among all liberal arts colleges in the university. The number of projects approved by NSFC this year is twice of the highest number in the past year, and the total direct funding received is 1.36 million yuan. The rate of projects being approved by NSFC in the college is as high as 50%, which is significantly higher than the national average rate of about 15%.
The effectiveness of the projects being approved by NSFC is an important reflection of the high importance attached to scientific research by the Party Committee and Administration of the college. In recent years, the college has continuously increased the construction of scientific research talents and scientific research reform. The newly introduced young teachers have become the backbone of the declaration. The college has launched the strategy of first-class discipline construction of tourism management, Nankai tourism lecture hall academic exchange brand, young teachers' scientific research continuous funding system, four-step strategy of national fund declaration, strategy of scientific research atmosphere enhancement, strategy of academic influence visualization, etc. The college has invited nearly 10 high-level experts, such as members of the disciplinary review group of the State Council, national talent project winners, experts of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and young teachers with rich experience in declaring scientific research projects, to provide multi-faceted and multi-angle guidance on the optimization of topic selection, content design, and program improvement for declaring various topics in our college. The relevant reform measures not only strengthened the scientific research force, stimulated the enthusiasm of scientific researchers to carry out scientific research work, but also effectively answered the doubts of young teachers in project declaration.
