From June 3rd to June 5th, 2021, a group of 33 teachers and MTA students of the College of Tourism and Service Management went to Suzhou for a 3-day field study activity. This study was led by Associate Professor Jiao Yan, director of MTA Education Center. Suzhou Culture and Tourism Bureau of Nankai MTA Practice Teaching Base and Tongcheng Group provided important support and help to this activity.

The Nankai MTA students visited the Suzhou section of the Grand Canal, the Pingjiang Historical District, the Wangshi Night Garden, the Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, the Shushan Village and the Tongcheng Group. Some company managers and experts were invited to give lectures on "New characteristics and development opportunities of tourism under the new normal", "Building digital culture and tourism in the era of new culture and creation", and "Travel and recreation, new opportunities in post-travel era". Faced with the students' in-depth thinking and enthusiastic questions, these teachers who are fighting in the front line of cultural tourism industry gave sincere and detailed answers, which benefited Nankai students greatly.

This study tour adheres to the philosophy of Nankai University of "Knowing China, Serving China" and the direction of Nankai MTA education of closely integrating theory and practice. Through the form of "expert lecture + on-site teaching + field visit", the mobile classroom and the practice base are closely connected, which consolidates the knowledge texture and expands the ability vision, and enables Nankai MTA students to understand the current development trend and practical wisdom of tourism industry more comprehensively, which has an important guiding role for students' professional cognition and future career development. After this study tour, students will form groups and make reports about "World Cultural Heritage Development: Grand Canal Suzhou Section", "Sustainable Development of Ancient Towns: Zhouzhuang", and "Rural Revitalization: Shushan Village ". Nankai MTA Education Center will invite industry mentors to review and select outstanding study reports to submit to relevant units, contributing to Nankai MTA's strength for the cultural tourism industry.
