(Correspondent: Wang Shan) On November 14, the Report on International Tourism Education for 2020 compiled mainly by the team of Professor Qiu Hanqin from the College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University under the entrustment of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) and China Tourism Education Association was released during the WTA·Xianghu Dialogue.
The Report on International Tourism Education for 2020 focuses on three themes, namely the development of international tourism education and cultivation system, the explorations and reflections on tourism education and the future of tourism education. Compiled under the support of Sun Yat-sen University, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Beijing International Studies University, Tourism College of Zhejiang and other well-known tourism colleges and universities in China, this report gathers the conclusions, reflections and prospects on international tourism education of more than 20 scholars, education administrators and industry experts from China, America, Britain and Canada. The report covers such content as changes and development of tourism education in China, Britain and America; successful practices and experience of well-known tourism colleges and universities at home and abroad in such aspects as development path, quality assurance, international cooperation in talent cultivation and overseas cooperation in school running; development of tourism education and reform of tourism teaching methods under the background of informatization.
To promote experience exchange and cooperation development in global tourism education, and realize such a core concept and target that “tourism makes the world a better place”, the World Tourism Alliance, China Tourism Education Association and the College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University will jointly release the report in both Chinese and English on regular basis, in hope of promoting the sharing and exchange of theoretical results and practical experience of global tourism educators in such fields as education concept, discipline construction, education administration, teaching methods, new technology application, industry-university-research cooperation and education innovation, helping the global economy take the road of green development led by the tourism industry, and building a community of shared future for mankind featuring joint contribution, shared benefits, win-win results and common prosperity.
It is reported that the College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University joined the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) in 2018, ranking among the nine founding members of WTA in the academic community together with Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Ji’nan University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Temple University, all world-renowned universities. Since its entry into WTA, the College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University has been playing the role of think tank in promoting the development of global tourism industry in a more open, inclusive and balanced way.
