(Correspondent: Cai Wenwen) On October 12, the College of Tourism and Service Management conducted a lecture on research integrity education for 2020 postgraduates in conference room 135. The lecture was delivered by Professor Chen Ye (deputy dean of the College of Tourism and Service Management) and attended by all postgraduates and doctoral students newly admitted. Dean Qiu Hanqin attended the lecture and delivered a speech.

Qiu Hanqin mentioned that research integrity is of particular importance in the Internet era. Integrity requires students to be true to themselves and others, be honest in doing things, and be in pursuit of persistent improvement in learning. While admonishing that only those who know clearly how to behave and what to do can be really competent in learning, he encouraged students to be true men, do right things and engage in meaningful learning.

Taking “qualified postgraduates” as the entry point, Professor Chen Ye introduced relevant requirements of Nankai University for research integrity and academic standardization. Starting from values and outlook on life, Professor Chen Ye shared his several research experiences in recent years, and expounded that a practical and serious attitude is necessary for scientific research. He mentioned that scientific research is a process of knowledge & theory innovation, cognition & research ability improvement, mind perfection and temperament cultivation. And only those with upright character and correct attitude can be qualified scientific researchers.

Finally, Mr. Chen suggested students make good use of the “Nankai Tourism” platform, strictly abide by the academic norms, and keep learning and growing.

The purpose of this lecture is to help postgraduates newly admitted in 2020 establish the concept of and adhere to research integrity, inherit excellent academic traditions of Nankai University, avoid academic misconducts, and strive to become qualified members of Nankai family.
