(Correspondent: Liang Sai, Wang Shan) Recently, in the annual conference of members of International Federation for Information Technology and Travel & Tourism (IFITT), Professor Qiu Hanqin was selected as board member of IFITT with an overwhelming majority of votes.

During the conference, Dean Qiu Hanqin said that on March 5, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang proposed the “Internet +” action plan for the first time on the Third Session of the 12th National People’s Congress, aiming to promote the integration of such advanced technologies as Internet, cloud computing, big data and IoT with modern manufacturing industry, advance the healthy development of e-commerce, industrial Internet and Internet finance (ITFIN), and lead Internet enterprises to expand international market. At present, China has also gradually become an explorer and leader in the integration of information technology with the tourism industry. Chinese enterprises represented by Alibaba, Tencent, Ctrip, TravelGo, Qunar, Elong, Tuniu and mafengwo.com are changing the travel habits and consumption patterns of tourists in China and around the world, and promoting the development of the tourism industry towards the direction of intelligence, innovation, efficiency, convenience and security.

In 2020, Nankai University will make great efforts to promote the establishment and development of IFITT China Chapter, and actively prepare the IFITT Talk Workshop to attract more Asian scholars to participate in various IFITT conferences and activities, so as to enable exchanges and cooperation between Asian scholars and the tourism industry.
