In order to study and publicize the implementation of Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the important spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech during his inspection to Nankai, cultivate the patriotism and sense of social responsibility of Nankai students, after six month’s careful preparation, on the evening of March 23rd, the second Praise the Love for China, Firm the Soul of Nankai Grand Journey to the South Drama Festival of the College of Tourism and Service Management was successfully held at the small concert hall of Jinnan Datong Student Center.

Three plays were staged during the drama festival, namely, Eternity, Southwest Associated University, Eternity, Nankai in a Century and The Inspector General. Three classes of 2018 undergraduate students created the scripts and prepared for the plays. Eternity, Southwest Associated University depicts the true history during the period of the anti-Japanese War, when the teachers and students of the Southwest Associated University set up the drama stage in the Southwest frontier of our Motherland, and called for the War of Resistance, cohesion, and inspiration for the people. Based on the Nankai centennial celebration, Eternity, Nankai in a Century tells the moving story of Zhang Guoliang, the pillar of the Nankai Repertory Troupe, who led the young students to re-stage the classic dramas and traces back to the development of the 100-year Nankai drama. The Inspector General tells an satirical story in which Khlestakov, a rich playboy, was mistaken as the inspector, causing panics among local bureaucrats. Its portrayal of the ugly words and deeds of the social dignitaries is thought-provoking.

Chen Mingran, an undergraduate student of 2018 acted as the elder Zhang Guoliang in Eternity, Nankai in a Century, and was voted by the audience the best actor of the drama festival. After the performance, he said, When Zhang Guoliang was young, he had an impulse to leave the drama with regrets and then returned to the stage in another way years later. It gives me a true feeling of Nankai drama's spirit of not only inheriting the tradition, but also putting forward new ones.  Dong Fangchen, an undergraduate student of 2018 was deeply touched by the performance. She said, The original repertoires of the drama festival run through ancient and modern times, recreating the development history of Nankai Repertory Troupe in the past 100 years, and demonstrating the Nankai spirit of 'dedication to public interests, acquisition of all-round capability, and aspiration for progress with each passing day' being passed down from the war times to the peace era.

The great university is firm and steady and its spirit of nurturing and enlightenment is ceaseless. The event takes the centennial celebration as an opportunity, aiming to deduce the century-old Nankai tradition in the form of drama performance, highlight the theme of the new era, and carry forward the spirit of Nankai. Students have said that they will uphold the school motto of dedication to public interests, acquisition of all-round capability, and aspiration for progress with each passing day, integrate the ego into the greater self, with a firm belief, high posture, noble sense of mission, devote themselves into the new century of construction of Nankai, and into the great practice of Chinese Dream of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
