On March 16th, on the invitation of the College of Tourism and Service Management, Mo Yuchang, a Distinguished Professor at the School of Mathematical Sciences of Huaqiao University and a Distinguished Professor of Minjiang Scholars of Fujian Province visited our college for exchanges.
In the morning, Professor Mo Yuchang gave a lecture on Big Data Technology and Tourism Application Cases. Professor Mo highlighted some examples of the current use of big data technology by the School of Mathematical Sciences of Huaqiao University for school-enterprise cooperation, among which cases of document big data application, mass structured machine data, regional tourism big data application and blockchain payment system were the successful applications of big data knowledge to solve practical problems. The Professor also gave detailed answers to some questions raised by teachers and students about the handling of unstructured data. The lecture was moderated by Professor Li Hui of our college, who also gave an introduction about Professor Mo Yuchang's work experience and results of his scientific research.
In the afternoon, Professor Mo Yuchang conducted an in-depth discussion with the teachers and students of our college on How to Apply Information Science Methods in the Field of Tourism. During the seminar, Professor Mo analyzed the application barriers of existing machine learning and answered some technical questions. The teachers and students interacted actively with Professor Mo during the whole heated seminar.
Professor Mo serves as a Distinguished Professor at the School of Mathematical Sciences of Huaqiao University, a Distinguished Professor of Minjiang Scholars of Fujian Province, Director of Key Laboratories of Fujian Universities on Computational Science, and Head of Science and Technology Innovation Team of Fujian Colleges and Universities on Data Science. He has headed 2 National Natural Science Foundation projects (61572442, 61272130) and 1 National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund project (60903011). He has been long engaged in the research of high-performance assessment and optimization of large-scale information system infrastructure, medical and health data analysis and application, etc. In particular, based on the decision graph method, he solved the problem of high-performance evaluation of cloud computing systems, and put forward new solutions to the high-performance architecture of cloud computing systems and the optimization of system software.
