News from Nankai News (Reporter: Lan Fang) A meeting of “the 13th Five-Year Plan” Committee of Experts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was held on December 13, researching and discussing the China’s cultural and tourism development during “the 14th Five-Year Plan”. Bai Changhong, Dean of Business School of NanKai University, secretary general of China National MTA Education Supervisory Committee attended the meeting, and was appointed as the committee member.
Bai Changhong gave a keynote speech at the meeting. He said that General Secretary Xi Jinping has delivered a series of keynotes on the integrative development of culture and tourism and international exchanges and cooperation, which not only clearly directed the people engaged in culture and tourism, but also put forward a series of important tasks.As the key to strengthening people-to-people ties and closing their emotional bond, international exchanges and cooperation in culture and tourism are also the humanistic foundation for building a community with shared future for mankind. On account of this, we should (a) co-ordinate the development of cultural resources and international tourism market, (b) promote the global spread of Chinese cultural values, (c) plan the advantages of both inbound and outbound tourism market as a whole, (d) deepen the international culture and tourism cooperation under the “Belt and Road Initiative”, (f) actively participate in the construction and optimization of the governance system in the global cultural tourism. By doing so, the development of global cultural tourism will be injected with Chinese experience and wisdom.
In view of the insufficiency and imbalance of integrative development of China’s culture and tourism and the building of cultural and tourism talents, Bai Changhong also put forward the specific direction on the cultivation of cultural and tourism talents according to that “what talents should be cultivated, and what philosophies and orientations should be adopted to cultivate talents”. Besides, he also presented the experience of Nankai University in the process of building “world-class university and first-class disciplines”, actively exploring the mode with integrated disciplines and coordinated cultivation of talents, taking efforts to cultivate the talents of applied cultural tourism with lofty ideals, moral education, professional knowledge, industry style and international vision.
In recent years, Nankai University has been actively connecting and serving the development of national cultural tourism. In addition, a series of research projects have been implemented as well, such as “Tourism Diplomacy”, “‘China-Europe’ Tourism International Cooperation and Development”, “Red Tourism Internationalization”, “Global Tourism City Development”, “Impact of Terrorism on World Tourism” etc. As the Secretariat Unit of China National MTA Education Supervisory Committee, Nankai University continuously innovates cultural and tourism talent training mode and actively propels the construction of high-end talent teams in China’s tourism industry.
