As an international and open academic exchange platform built by School of Management of Zhejiang University, the first International Forum of Young Scholars and Doctoral Students themed “Tourism +: Consumption Upgrading and Format Innovation” was held in Zhejiang Zijingang International Hotel on November 16-18, 2018. Dean Qiu Hanqin, Liu Yixue (a doctoral student) and Zhang Aijia (a postgraduate of teacher Qiu Wei), attended the Forum.
Themed “Integrative Development and Format Innovation of Great Tourism Industry under the Background of Consumption Upgrading and Experience Economy”, the participants of the Forum for wisdom sharing covered experts and scholars from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU), Nankai University, Sun Yat-Sen University and other well-known universities at home, as well as senior executives from many governmental departments and enterprises, such as Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Zhejiang Tourism Group and Fliggy etc.. They jointly discussed in depth the development of the tourism industry and interdisciplinary research. In addition, the Conference has established seven parallel sub-forums, including “Tourism+” industry amalgamation and format innovation, rural tourism driving rural revitalization, research on residents in tourism destinations, English Session, time-space distribution of tourism and regional development, rural tourism and regional development, as well as research on tourists.
Dean Qiu Hanqin gave a report themed “Teaching and Scientific Research in the Era of Informatization 2.0” in the Forum on the morning of November 16. Prof. Qiu Hanqin put forward the philosophy of education resource-sharing, standing on the tourism teaching and scientific research in the Internet era. In combination with her experience in the construction of teaching + scientific big data platform construction of NKU and HKPU, she also looked forward to the development of tourism teaching and scientific research informatization in the future. Her education program—“Micro-Bachelor”—was consistently praised by the participants, and even aroused their in-depth discussion.
On the afternoon of November 16, Liu Yixue (a doctoral student) and Zhang Aijia (a postgraduate) participated in the report of two sub-forums, that is, “English Session” and “research on tourists”, respectively. They communicated with guests and accepted their instructions and recommendations.
After anonymous review, the Forum appraised and elected the first, the second and third prize of Best Paper, and issued certificates to the winners. The paper submitted by teacher Qiu Wei was elected as the first prize of Best Paper.
