On April 20th, 2018, the international forum on “China's ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ Long-term Implications for Global Travel andTourism” jointly hosted by the College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University and the Tourism Research Center of Macao Institute, was held at the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies.
The Forum focused on the opportunities and challenges that great reformation, and “the Belt and Road Initiative” brought to the global tourism industry, including the infrastructure investment and development and the opportunities and risks arose from it to global tourism and hospitality industry; tourism mobility, visa restriction, social culture conflicts and open issues between countries and regions along the route; preparations that participants in the global tourism and hospitality industry and the heads of tourism authorities need make; the long-term impact of “the Belt and Road Initiative” to talent flow, technology development and education training of the tourism and hospitality industry.
Prof. Qiu Hanqin, designate dean of the College of Tourism and Service Management, Dr. Tuo Yanzheng, Deputy Director of the Silk Road Tourism Research Center, Prof. Carson Jenkins, from the University of Strathclyde, Dr. Tim Summers, from the Centre For China Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Hu Weixing, from the Department of Politics and Public Administration of the University of Hong Kong, Associate Prof. Ren Lianping from Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, Dr. Yu Hong from NUS East Asian Institute, and other experts and scholars participated in the seminar. Prof. Qiu Hanqin gave a welcome speech on behalf of Nankai University.
