(Reported by Wei Mingqiu) Recently, Prof. Bai Changhong and Vice President Li Zhong with other 5 people from the College of Tourism and Service Management went to Chifeng City to report the Three-Year Action Service Plan for Global Quality Tourism Development in Chifeng City to the Municipal Government. The meeting was chaired by Yan Hui, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Chifeng Municipal People's Congress and who's also the director of the Chifeng Tourism Development Commission. People that attended the meeting include Meng Xiandong, mayor of Chifeng Municipal People's Government, Wang Lien, secretary general of Chifeng Municipal Government, Liu Xingfei, deputy director of Chifeng Municipal Government Office, Yang Guang, deputy director of the Chifeng Tourism Development Commission, Wang Li, deputy director of the Chifeng Tourism Development Commission, Han Lei, deputy director of the Chifeng Tourism Development Commission, and other relevant department heads.

At the very start, Prof. Bai Changhong summarized and reviewed the prior work focuses and cooperative contents. Since December 2016, the College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Chifeng Municipal People's Government and Chifeng Municipal Tourism Bureau. And the project group has gone to Chifeng and interacted with leaders at all levels for 25 times, worked on Chifeng site for 102 days, done 15 researches, held 17 symposiums and 4 special training sessions, and participated in the redaction of 12 important documents. Meanwhile, the project group adopted the form of “Investigation Guide + Reporting Lecture + Centralized Training + Visit Exchange” to strengthen the tracking service for each county; to assist in the preparation of Chifeng Tourism Investment Conference 2017; and to help Keshiketeng Stonehenge build a 5A-level scenic spot. In addition, in August 2017, the Chifeng City delegation was invited by the organizer, Nankai University, to participate in the Asian Tourism Industry Annual Conference, and made a featured introduction.

Prof. Bai Changhong proposed that the next step of cooperation will continue to aim at “building a Chinese grassland self-driving resort and a world-class tourist destination”. Supporting by the discipline expertise of Nankai University, industry influence and think tank platform advantages, the project group will promote the tighter integration of scientific research and practice of tourism education, and will provide support for gearing Chifeng tourism development to international standards. Meanwhile, on the basis of the “Nankai+” think tank service model, the “Nankai & Tencent+” service platform will be built to implement the development model of the global quality tourism platform, which will help the comprehensive transformation and upgrading of Chifeng's intellectual tourism industry.

During the discussion, the Mayor Meng Xiandong fully affirmed the work attitude and work results of the project group of Nankai University, and pointed out that the tourism development of Chifeng City should change the traditional thinking and keep pace with the times of the Internet and tourism informatization; and build “Chifeng mode” by means of “Nankai & Tencent+”platform. Mayor Meng holds that the next step should be to implement the service plan as soon as possible; promote the breakthrough innovations in the major aspects of tourism resources integration, brand creation and investment and financing mechanism in Chifeng City; promote the tourism market to fully open to social capital, innovate operation mode of tourism projects, and change the current situation of inadequate tourism products and unitary content to help Chifeng tourism achieve new span in reformation, innovation and development.
