During the period December 19-20, Professor Yao Yanbo of School of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University was present at Second Council of China Association of Travel Services (CATS) & CATS Industry Development Forum 2017 and issued the report themed by Development Index of Chinese Tourism Service Industry in the forum.
The report themed by Development Index of Chinese Tourism Service Industry is finished based on the researches of the joint subject group consisting of School of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University and CATS, which points out that driven by such external factors as consumption upgrade, technology and capital and facing numerous chaotic phenomena within the tourism service industry and the marginalization of its industrial position; Tourist service enterprises must realizing the sustainable development through transformation to get out of the present plight. Comprehensively measured the current development situations and level of Chinese tourist service industry, the report has implemented objective evaluations on the development of the industry adopting such a scientific and standard quantification standard as index. Based on the comprehensive consideration of the characteristics of both online and offline tourist service industry, the report respectively designs different evaluation index system for online and offline tourism service industry and makes specific evaluation analysis on the development scale, level and potential of online and offline tourism service industry. Researches revealed that offline tourist service industry is under medium development level and of relatively large development potential; online tourism service industry develops great level whose development scale and level are both in good conditions, but due to the influence of such factors as profit growth and market share growth, it is of low-middle development potential.
Professor Yao Yanbo expressed that the report can timely reflect phenomena and problems existing in the development of Chinese tourism service industry and, proposing suggestions and countermeasures to tourism service enterprises and relevant administration departments against such phenomena and problems, so that, the enterprises can make timely adjustmentsand promoting the healthy development of tourism service industry and tourism market in the end. School of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University has issued research reports to CATS for years in succession and supplied important decision-making references and direction guidance for the development of the tourist service industry.
During the council, Professor YAO Yanbo, as a supervisor of CATS, has also made Supervisor Report to CATS 2017 in the Second Council of the Fifth Session of CATS.
