During the activity celebrating the 98th anniversary of Nankai University after its founding & commemorating the return of alumni graduated 1987 on the 30th anniversary after their graduation, alumni enrolled 1983 into the Department of Tourism manufactured silver coins on their own and had them donated to the Museum of Nankai University History and the General Association of Nankai Alumni for perpetual collection.
The Activity Preparation Commission of Nankai Tourism Alumni Association for the return of alumni enrolled 1983 believes that the 30th anniversary after graduation is a limestone in the track of every alumni, for which a dignified and weighty souvenir that is both viewable and can be inherited to later generations is necessary. Under the suggestion and encouragement of Yang Jianhua, an alumni enrolled 1983 into the Department of Foreign Languages who are enthusiastic on the collection of historical mechanism coins, the preparation committee approved by consensus on the decision of manufacturing silver coins to commemorate the 30th anniversary after graduation of alumni enrolled 1983 into the Department of Tourism. After drawing on the wisdom and opinions of alumni, YANG Jianhua started to design and manufacture the commemorative coin, and after repetitive modifications during 3 months, the satisfactory silver commemorative coin finally emerged.
The pattern on one side of the commemorative coin is the school badge of Nankai University and, being generous, introverted and graceful, integrating both Chinese and Western culture, focusing on both arts and science, the pattern fully shows the unique style and charm of the culture in Nankai University.
The pattern on the other side of the commemorative coin is the integration of main building, sculpture of Premier Zhou, school motto, grain and volume, embodying the spiritual pursuits of Nankai Students to extensively read both modern and ancient works, strive to be strong and serve people.
Being processed by a professional coining enterprise using advanced mirror-deepening and embossment technology in a limited quantity (totally 100 ones), the silver commemorative coins (999 sterling silver) were presented to every alumni and teacher present at the gathering. Wang Chunfeng (director of nankai tourism alumni association) donated 2 commemorative coins to the Archives Center of Nankai University and the General Association of Nankai Alumni for collection on behalf of alumni enrolled 1983 into the Department of Tourism.
