A message from Nankai news network (photographed and reported by Journalist Wu Junhui): as the most fashionable and advanced visual technology, VR (virtual reality) technology has already applied the classrooms of many universities. However, for general students, to turn their creative ideas into VR works, demands much more manual practices. On October 9, “VR Association for Nankai students” was formally established under the capital support and guidance of a graduated alumnus, thus creating a “small space” for numerous general enthusiasts to realize their creative VR ideas.
The “base camp” of the association mentioned above was set in the “walker boundless workshop” in the starry sky entrepreneurship base of School of Tourism and Service Management located in Jinnan Campus of Nankai University. In the “base camp”, there are various VR equipment and a computer classroom dedicated to teaching and practices. In the site, the journalist saw a classmate experiencing “Virtuix Omni” (a universal treadmill, named as “Wanxiang paobuji” in Chinese). Through the equipment, experience can experience the true feeling of “CS cosplay” by means of general movement.
The tutor of the association is Hu Xiaolu, an alumnus enrolled 2001 into the Tourism Department of School of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University, and also the person in charge of Tianjin VRVISION Technology Co., Ltd. At first, to repay the alma mater, HU Xiaolu made a contribution of over one million Yuan donation of VR equipment to the School of Tourism and Service Management in hope of helping teaching reform and students' entrepreneurship practices through introducing the latest technology. Afterwards, Hu Xiaolu also set up a general optional course "manufacturing of three-dimensional virtual simulation scenario" for free in the form of "course donation by alumni".
On that day, School of Tourism and Service Management, Office of Teaching Affairs and persons in charge of Youth League Committee of Nankai University attended the establishment ceremony of the association.
