During the period of 2017 China Tourism Industry Exposition, "UNWTO-WTCF city tourism performance research" symposium jointly held by United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) was held in Tianjin Meijiang MICE Center on September 2, 2017 with tourism research experts from WTO, WTCF, Britain, Japan, Korea, Beijing, Hangzhou and Macao,etc as participants.  

UNWTO and WTCF formally launched the performance research project on world tourism cities in 2015 with the systematic evaluation on tourism development of 16 cities worldwide.  

Doctor Chen Ye (deputy director of the Market and Destination Marketing Research Center of our School) directed the first part of the symposium dominated by the display of achievements related to tourism research performances of cities in Asian-Pacific Region, and he also made a report with the topic "Internet+ city tourism big data”. Completed jointly by the tourism market laboratory of Nankai University and Tencent Tourism, the report, relying on the network big data from various business segments of Tencent Company, analyzed the general situations of city tourism in China, the portraits of city tourists and the monitoring over city tourism and also the general situations, development opportunities and future trends of Tianjin tourism industry.
